FAQ

What types of projects are eligible?

The passion projects we are interested in supporting will generally involve an idea, initiative, or business proposal that provides a solution to a problem. This could be a service, app, product, or something else!

How does this work?

  1. Submit your project here. Once you do, share the link to your submission with your family, friends, teachers, and anyone else you think will support you. Once you have earned 15 unique votes, your project will officially be live and eligible for Project of the Month.
  2. At the end of each month, a panel of judges will evaluate all of the eligible submissions using the judging criteria outlined in the official rules. The panel will select one remarkable project to be named Project of the Month. The participant(s) that submitted the Project of the Month will be eligible to receive $5,000 in funding to support their project. They will also receive a feature post through SLN’s social media channels and will be included in the SLN weekly newsletter.
  3. In August, all Project of the Month recipients will proceed to the final judging phase of the showcase: Remarkable Student(s) of the Year. Each student or team of students can then present their project to the final panel of judges, who will select the grand prize winner to receive an additional $5,000 in funding. Plus, the judging panel will provide guidance and professional advice to help create a foundation for success.

What will the judging panel look like?

The judging panel consists of multidisciplinary industry leaders from across Canada, including an expert judge from CIBC. The panel will assess the talent, effort, creativity, strategy, and impact that went into the project you submit. New judges will be announced throughout the campaign.

What are the key dates and timelines?

The passion projects we are interested in supporting will generally involve an idea, initiative, or business proposal that provides a solution to a problem. This could be a service, app, product, or something else!
